“JUST DO IT!”
If you have an opportunity to attend one of Debbie Romero’s Alexander Technique classes – do it! While surfing Facebook, I stumbled on a flyer from Debbie for a three-session class on the technique decided to sign up. I was so glad I did. The classes were fun, relaxed and informative. Debbie is a caring, fun and capable instructor and her teachings have helped me improve my riding and my time with my mare.
“BE MINDFUL”
“Be mindful”. We hear this a lot. The Alexander Technique helps me to think through how I am standing, walking, bending and more. It’s a process of self-discovery, with Debbie’s thoughtful guidance. I am coming to realize how long-held habits contribute to my pain. More importantly, Debbie instructs me to “just notice the pain” and then to consider what I can do to minimize my pain through subtle changes in posture and movement. I highly recommend Debbie and the Alexander Technique!
“IT AFFECTS EVERYTHING”
Thanks for a great session, Deb. The Alexander technique was really great, and your hands and mannerisms are wonderful. The feeling of “awareness” is difficult to explain. What I found so fabulous was the feeling of lightness and lengthening that I have never felt before through any other modality. It affects all of our daily life. Posture, walking, sitting, breathing, soft eyes are just some of what I experienced with you which will make a big difference in my life. See you next time!
“FAST RELIEF”
I tried PT, massage, and yoga, and got some value. But I was struggling with foot and knee pain.
In my first 10 minutes, Debbie zeroed in on my posture and movement. She walked me through some easy changes to how I move, and as I tried them out, I knew I was no longer hurting myself. It gave me amazingly immediate relief.
As I practiced over the next week, I had steady progress. Years later, if I fall back into old habits, it’s still an easy fix.
“BETTER RELATIONSHIP WITH MY BODY”
After years of chronic back pain, I was so eager to find relief. The first session started by me opening up the hood and sharing everything that I was feeling in my body: the constant pain in the back part of my right hip, my informal “tradition” of pinching a nerve somewhere between my right ear and my right shoulder, and the odd positions I found myself going into, to find comfort.
Debbie immediately understood what I was sharing. That day, I became aware that I had habituated an “inaccurate relationship” with my own body.
Working with Debbie, I was able to comprehend the core root of my pain, understand my key dysfunctional posture patterns and how to change them, and learn lifelong tools to prevent injury and strain.
“PRICELESS GIFT TO MYSELF”
My early dance training posture had sadly, over the years, slipped downward into a forward sticking head and neck with a protruding belly. I was shocked when I caught a glimpse of my posture in a window and knew it was time to do something about it.
Fortunately, I found Debbie Romero, a highly trained Alexander Technique Practitioner specializing in optimal posture awareness and movement. I have now worked with Debbie for at least five years and am still amazed by her depth of knowledge and her ability to verbalize the simplest yet most profound tips on how to move with more ease and fluidity.
Now when I find myself driving or on the computer with my neck jacked forward, I hear Debbie asking me to see if I can nod my head yes or turn my head to say no — and what small changes can I make to allow my neck to move more freely. Working with Debbie is always a process of exploration and discovery.
Since doing table and movement sessions with her, my chiropractic visits have greatly decreased, and I am much more mindful of how I use my body. Spending time with Debbie one to two times a month is a priceless gift to myself as I age.
